2013 JIM KELLER MIDDLE SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD RELAYS

The New Canaan Running Club, only in its 2^nd year, participated in one of the largest relay championships in New England on April 24^th at the 12th annual Jim Keller Middle School Track & Field Relay Championships at New Fairfield High School, in New Fairfield, Connecticut.

In the span of three hours, the NCRC competed alongside 16 other teams in the 4x800m relay (Boys, 8^th place: Will Foster, Will Dooley, Sean Knight, Christian Meier). (Girls, 9^th place: Kaitlyn Popson, Dixie D’Amelio, Mary Grace Thomas, and Cali Brannan), the 4x400m relay (Boys: Jason Kurtzman, Sean Knight, Christian Meier, Will Foster). (Girls, 13^th place: Kaitlyn Popson, Dixie D’Amelio, Mary Grace Thomas, Cali Brannan), and the Distance Medley (1200m, 400m, 800m, and 1600m) (Boys, 6^th place: Will Dooley, Jason Kurtzman, Christian Meier, Will Foster).

It was a wonderful experience for the New Canaan Running Club members to learn how to stay mentally focused for three events in three hours, participate in a multi-event relay meet, and enjoy camaraderie with their teammates. Most importantly, these kids had fun! A big thank you to Coaches Alex and Kevin Portanova who prepared these kids well.
